Labels?

I have an interactive map with a number of layers. For one of the layers (protected areas) the name of each protected area appears at a certain scale. Users do not have to click on the identify button to determine the name of the protected layer. The name of the protected area simply appears if one zooms in close enough.

 

I'm trying to do something similar for our vegetation types layer. But I'm not sure how to configure the layer or service, so that the name of the vegetation type appears as soon as someone zooms in close enough. Can someone provide me with directions?

  You should set up the labels in your map document when publishing your service.  Use the scale levels from your basemap in your viewer to identify the values to use (1128, 2256, 4418, etc.).

   

  It will probably take some trial and error to find the setup that best suites your needs.
