Anybody have fast HTML5 sites?
There has been a lot of discussion recently about how HTML5 performance is much worse than Silverlight. What I would like to know is if this is universal, or If you have public HTML5 sites that you are proud or and think show what is possible with HTML5. It is clear that HTML5 is a much more server intensive technology than Silverlight, but It is where we are, and we need to make the best of it. I would like to see what is out there that you think is Best of Breed, and can help show the rest of us what is possible, and maybe how to get there...

using IE11:
Heavy: 15 seconds 1st time, ~10 seconds subsequent loads
Light: 10 seconds 1st time, ~7 seconds subsequent
Slightly faster (~10%) using Chrome.0 -
So faster for you Peter, but nowhere near the improvement we are seeing internally. I'm assuming it must be distance over the internet... Stefan, what was actually improved with the software? 0 -
Depending on how the initial viewer page opens (Toolbar, Home Panel, etc. open by default), only the components that need to be loaded initially are actually loaded. Other modules that need to load during use of the viewer, like changing the toolbar tab to display the Collaboration button, will trigger the loading of other modules. 0 -
Mike,
From Melbourne Ox,
Heavy - 21 seconds (cache disabled in F12 dev tools chrome)
- 12 seconds (cache enabled)
Light - 11 seconds (cache enabled)
- 16 seconds (cache disabled)
I've started testing the new GVH2.11 and it's proving to be significantly faster on load than 2.10.1
I'm only playing with the viewer update, so with GE 4.9.2 as I suspect the load times would have little to do with the Essentials version (?)
So far the results are really encouraging!0
