    Hello Nelson,

Geocortex Workflow 5 does not currently have an activity similar to the "Get Current User" activity in Essentials Workflow.

The "Compared to Geocortex Essentials Workflow" is a great overview, but it doesn't cover all of the individual differences in available activities between the two. You'll find several activities that Essentials Workflow has that Geocortex Workflow 5 doesn't and vice versa, especially because there are some fundamental differences between how the two work.

You can post to the Ideas section here if you have something you'd like to see as an activity in GW5. If you're comparing to Essentials Workflow activities, it will help to include how you'd like to use it since some activities can be used for several different tasks.

    Thanks,

    Amanda

    Hi Nelson,

I think you can call an Essentials Workflow and get the current user from output.

Is there an url to hit with 'Send Web Request' activity... https://<geocortex_server>/Geocortex/Essentials/REST/site/<site_name>?f=json

I know that url had logged in user when i looked, but am not sure the reliability of this request, If our Site requires login is this safe to use?

is there a better url to use? ...

or is 'Run Essentials Workflow' the safest solution for now?

@Leo Liu? , Yes that is what I am going to use, but as a standalone product it would be nice to not have to rely on Essentials Workflow to make it happen.

@Ryan Day?, I am using the Run Essentials Workflow and you need to add the workflow to a site in Essentials before you can access it via GW5. For the URL you need to populate it with something like this:

    http://<gcx_server>/Geocortex/Essentials/REST/sites/<siteid>/workflows/<workflowid>

This will return all of your OUT arguments from the Essentials Workflow to your GW5 workflow and you can access those by this:

    =$runessentialsworkflow1.result["<output_argument>"]

    Cheers,

    Nelson
