2.8.2 Package - 54MBs?
Are the 2.8.2 and 2.8.1 completed installation packages for the HTML5 viewer? This is significantly smaller than the 300+MB archives of previous versions. Should we install 2.8 before installing the maintenance patches or were the SDK and Documentation packages left out?

Hi Tom, that's a great question. I quickly diffed the distributions from 2.8.0 and 2.8.1 and the good news is that the "viewer" portions are comparable -- both the vte and Viewer.zip are the roughly the same size, as they should be. The difference is in the Samples and QuickStart folders. So, the quick answer is: you can install a maintenance release without first installing 2.8.0. I'm not sure why the samples and QuickStart are significantly smaller, though I do know that they were not successfully ported to the new AMD structure that the viewer itself went through in 2.8.0, so it's possible that we've removed the un-ported samples, in order to reduce confusion (unsuccessfuly, it would appear). I'll report back on that part when I have a better understanding. 0 -
Okay, so I've taken a closer look. As of 2.8.1, the samples have been ported to use AMD. The reason everything is so much smaller is that the samples contain only the code for their own modules; previously, we provided a complete viewer with each sample in order to host it as a standalone application. The intent is to make live examples of these samples available online, while providing only the files specific to that example in the distribution. The samples are available online, but they have not yet been updated. Things should fall into place properly when the new Documentation Center goes live. 0
