Share Map via Email

I'm trying to use the Share widget (on the HTML5 2.8.2 viewer) to generate a URL to share the current map via Email. It works fine on our public site (remembers the layers I had on, extent, etc.), however it does not work on our private site that requires a Windows Integrated or Geocortex login. Is there any way to get this to work? Some people want some random layer startup configurations, and I thought this would be a good workaround instead of creating a ton of layer themes.

  Hi Chelsea,

   

  I'm afraid I don't know the specifics about getting this to work with the sharing widget, but your use case sounds like a good candidate for the Save Projects feature.  Your users could get the map the way they like it, and then save the current state as a project.  They could then share the project with other users and groups, or keep it private so only they could see it.  

   

  You can find details about saving projects in section 15.56 of the GVH Administrator and Developer guide.

  Thanks for the quick reply! That makes perfect sense, I can't believe I didn't make that connection. Especially with the sharing URLs for the project, people won't need to do the couple extra clicks to open the project, they can start up the site with that project open. I might remove the Sharing widget then, if it won't work with logins. I'll let everyone know to make projects.

  We are having the same problem. We are still on version Essentials 4.3.0 and HTML 2.4. Whenever we are logged in to the viewer and share the link, the share the link adds a # in the link in front of the ?. We are using Windows Integrated loggin.
