Is it possible to customize labels in a workflow?
Hello all,
I woud like to use the Set Layer Property Activity to modify the labels of a layer. Looking at the REST endpoint for the Census Tracts layer in the LA County Demo site (http://{SERVERNAME}Geocortex/Essentials/REST/sites/LA_County/map/mapservices/Dynamic/layers/15), I can tell that I have acces to the "Show Labels" property, which is boolean. I can't see anything in there that would allow me to customize the labels the same way that the viewer does (i.e. choose the field, the font, etc). Is there a way to do this via a workflow?
Kind regards,
Maura

Hi Maura,
I've looked into this, but I don't think it will be possible to change your labels this way. As far as I can tell, none of the properties on an Essentials Layer are directly used to set labeling information, save for the ShowLabels property. It looks like when labels are changed in the viewer, the change happens on an Esri layer object, and not on the Essentials one. I'm not sure if you've looked into Geocortex Workflow 5 yet, but it may have an easier time achieving something like this, because it lets you get and directly manipulate the client-side Esri map and layer objects. You could also post in the Ideas section (https://support.geocortex.com/GSCIdeas?c=09a6000000008RsAAI&filter=1&categ=all&sub-nav=ideas&main-nav=essentials&page=1) and request that we provide an activity or viewer command that can be used to easily change labels on a map service layer from a workflow.
Hope that helps

Amanda,
Can you turn the labels on/off in the workflow? I don't need to change the labels, just turn them off in the workflow.
Thank you,
