Operation is not valid due to state of object

I'm getting this workflow error. Other workflows have very similar activities but do not fail. Has anyone ever seen this and figured out how to resolve it?

  Hi Patrick, 

   

  Are you able to narrow down which sequence or activity causes the error?  The underlying cause will depend on where this is happening.  The error message is a generic one that tells us a method isn't working because the object can't support it from its current state.
