Tools - Yellow dialog box - exit

Hi All,

 

Is anyone having issues with the identify/drawing/editing/sticky tools not exiting out of tool when selecting x in yellow box.

 

We have map tips on and users try to use map tips but keep finding themselves in the previous tool they were in.. resulting in them thinking map tips arent working.

 

In previous versions when the grey dialog box appeared down the bottom the x would exit you out of the tool.

 

I have already had clarification that this is the intent of the tool for user experience but i was just wondering if anyone else is having similiar issues with their users?

 

I was wondering if this is more beneficial for most if there could be possibility we can have an option to use the esc key as a shortcut key to exit out of any tool???

 

we are on GE4.7 and GVH 2.8.

  I also have a lot of users that are a bit unhappy about this.  They don't care much for this particular "user experience".

  Hi Matt & Richard, 

   

  I did a quick search in the Ideas section and found this topic (https://support.geocortex.com/essentialsGSCIdeasDetail?c=09a6000000008RsAAI&id=087f20000004VSYAA2&sub-nav=ideas&main-nav=essentials) .  If you haven't already, would you be able to vote and/or include your comments there?  Or perhaps post your own Idea for using the escape key or another keyboard shortcut?  Ideas are the best channel for getting changes to be considered when we plan out new releases.

   

  If you're comfortable editing javascript files, you could modify "C:\inetpub\wwwroot\Html5Viewer\Resources\Compiled\Notifications.js"

   

  and this.app.command("ClearActiveTool").execute(), to the handleClose function.  This isn't tested or QA-ed though, so it would be at your own risk.
