Error message: Value cannot be null. Parameter name: symbolData
After an upgrade to GE, a site that previously worked fine now rejects a map service with this error message
Value cannot be null. Parameter name: symbolData

There aren't any null values in the symbology and all fields that had null values in them have been hidden before publishing (not that it should have made a difference if the null value existed? Other map services don't seem to mind that.)
Any ideas how to fix this?

Hi Ann,
Were you able to get this working? I was able to load the url into my Essentials site when I tested. I have seen similar (but not identical) cases where recycling the Essentials App pool fixes the issue. Troubleshooting something like this, you could also try adding "?f=pjson" to the end of the service url and check to see if anything looks out of place with the in the drawingInfo property.

I am experiencing this exact issue when trying to reference a web map that uses a couple problematic layers. Any advice? 0 -
Dear All,
do you have any suggestion how to fix this issue? Is Geocortex issue or Services issue?0 -
Francis, I was able to pinpoint the issue: I published the hosted service with complex symbology and got a warning that AGOL could not handle the symbology and it would be downgraded. By changing the symbology prior to publishing, I resolved this issue. 0 -
I have also this problem.
It happens when if you use a sollid sybology with no outline.
Then the outline will be Null. This is ok with Esri, but apparently not with Geocortex.
