Upload Data: Simplifying how Shapefiles are uploaded
Hello,
I am wondering if there are plans in the near future to simplify how shapefiles are uploaded using the upload data tool. As of right now we have to choose three files: the .prj, .shp and .dbf for it to function properly. This is often difficult to explain to inexperienced users and would be great if a user can simply choose only the .shp which will recognize the .prj and .dbf with it.
Thanks!

Hi Steve,
No, there are no current plans involving the Upload Data tool. You do raise a good point, though. I would recommend (https://support.geocortex.com/GSCIdeas?c=09a6000000008RsAAI&filter=1&categ=Geocortex%20Viewer%20for%20HTML5&type=html5&sub-nav=ideas&main-nav=essentials&page=1) posting a new idea .0 -
Yeah uploading a .shp file alone simply does not work - you should just get rid of the option.
OR at the very least warn the users:
"You have uploaded a bare .shp file. The attributes won't be included and you must submit as World Coordinates (other WKID like VicGrid doesn't work and puts your shp file in africa somwehere)""It is recommended that you upload a .zip file containing the .shp, .prj, .dbf"

Agreed
Even though I have added this to the dialog box:
Supported file types include .csv, .xlsx, .kml, .shp (include .shx, .dbf & .prj files), .gpx, or a .zip containing shapefiles
I still receive support request where users have only selected the .shp and then are wondering where the basemaps and other data has gone. An additonal warning that not all required files have been selected would be wonderful!0
