Create a Custom Toolbar in Available Tools

Is it possible to create your own personal Toolbar Tools that show up in manager.  For example: I have about 10 searches that I add to almost every site.  I would like to be able to build a custom toolbar that shows up in the "Available Tools" in manager.  Then I could simply drag it into my toolbar when needed.

  I wonder if you could modify the viewer template before deploying it to include things like this.

  Yes it is possible to modify the viewer template but not simple.

   

  We modify the Essentials viewer template e.g. to include the arrow and triangle sketch tools.

  We have heavily customized the CSS, modules, locales, etc. in the .vte (template) package  which is, as Nico mentioned, not always simple - especially when you move up to the next viewer version. 

   

  The bigger issue though is how you build the actual tool so that it can be added to the list of available tools.

   

  I think I saw a forum or KB post several years ago about how to build a custom tool (as opposed to a custom module) but can't find it now.  Will see if I have the post saved in my email archives.
