Clear highlights on close of results window?

Hopefully something simple I'm missing -

 

We have a lot of workflow-powered searches etc.  I'd like to have the highlighted features (those returned by the search/workflow) clear when the user closes the results tab.  Currently, the search highlights features and adds pushpins - the pushpins clear on close but not the highlighting.

 

We have a RunExternalCommand > ClearHighlights node at the beginning of each workflow, so the highlights do clear IF you open the search again.  I'd like to simply clear pushpins/highlights on close of results window.

  Should add this is with the older version of Workflow Manager - not the swanky new one.

  A workaround is to add a Display Form at the end of your workflow (with a Close button) and after the Display Form a Run External Command activity with a Clear Highlights command.
