upload data and identify doesn't return basic numeric numbers
When I upload a shapefile and then identify on the features for my numeric fields, I get a scientific notation returned. So, instead of 442.456534 I get 4.42456534277e+002.
Has anyone else seen this?
Thanks

Hi Jimmy,
When you create a shapefile, the values written to the DBF file are actually stored in scientific notation (to see this, open your DBF file in a text editor). The Viewer displays the values exactly as they are stored in the DBF, it does not perform any manipulation.
Having options for selecting field formats when uploading a shapefile would be a good candidate for the Ideas section. If you submit it there, it will be considered as a potential improvement and other users can "upvote" it. The more support it gets, the more likely it is to be included in future versions.
Thanks,

We've isolated the issue to a display bug in Geocortex. This only happens with "Float" and "Double" field types in a shapefile. More clearly stated "Float/Doubles" with Precision and Scales that are 0 & 0. When you assign a precision and scale to a float or double the shapefile is read correctly.

We will submit this as a bug to support. This is an unacceptable work around for a user as only this can be rectified using ArcMap by adding new fields, declaring precision & scale then calculating/filling in the new field and deleting old field. 0 -
FYI, this has been filed as BUG 27355 0
