Workflow PrintMap Activity

We've customized a printing utility while using the workflow 'PrintMap' activity. All is well except that there is no ability to see the preview of the area that is about to be printed.

 

Is there anyway to incorporate this feature into a workflow, just like the original print tool?

  Hi Walter,

   

  The print preview box is bound to the Print dialog that appears - it shows up after the user selects a template to print.  So, there's no way to directly access that from a workflow.

   

  You may be able to mimic its behavior by calculating the resulting map extent that would appear in your PDF, and adding a rectangle markup on the page - but that's quite a bit of work and ongoing maintenance.

   

  You can also post an Idea requesting a workflow activity (or runnable viewer command) that displays the red outline on the map.
