Does configuring the geocortex app with https affect the performance? 

 

We observed that the performance of the geocortex with http is much better than https. Is this normal?

  We generally find HTTPS to be faster than HTTP, but there are many variables that could affect the difference, such as your map services, how IIS is configured, the version of Geocortex Essentials you are on. 

   

  https://www.troyhunt.com/i-wanna-go-fast-https-massive-speed-advantage/

   

  We deprecated support for non-secure HTTP several years ago and recommend the same to anyone with an Internet facing web server.

  If you have not already done so, please upgrade to the latest version of Essentials and viewer as it has much better loading performance than its predecessors.

  Yes Wayne. We upgraded our site to the latest version and then transfer to https and here we noticed a perfromance issue! And that why we want to check the effect of https on Geocortex.

  Hi Alaa,

   

  It would be best to check the https version but I looked at the http version using Fiddler and here is what I found:

   

  - http://geomolg.ps/Geocortex/Essentials/REST/VirtualDirectory/InkedWelcome_02.jpg takes 4 seconds to load.  It's a large image that can be saved in a lower resolution to make a smaller file size and have it load quicker.  This wouldn't affect loading much other than the first load.  It will be cached after the first load.

   

  - http://geomolg.ps/Geocortex/Essentials/REST/sites/A3/map/mapservices/40/rest/services/x/MapServer/legend  took almost 4 seconds but this is expected, the legend responses are notoriously slow

   

  This doesn't really show much, if you can switch back to https and let me know I will look at the https version in Fiddler as well.
