GPS pairing Geocortex application for field data capture?
Greetings,
I have seen this as far as a feature in Collector for ArcGIS, where one can boost a GPS reading by pairing your collector app with a high resolution GPS:
https://doc.arcgis.com/en/collector/ios/collect-data/high-accuracy-gps.htm
My question is, if i want to have this type of data capturing within a Geocortex environment, how would i accomplish this?
How could i ensure my data points in the field are sub foot accuracy? Is pairing with external GPS devices possible?
I more or less want to be able to capture waypoints in the field for the point of marking boundaries of wetland for site plan delineations and they need to be sub foot accurarcy.
Any insight into GPS integration with data caputring in the Geocortex environment would be immensly helpful.

Hi Raoul,
To get high-accuracy position information from an external GPS device in a Geocortex viewer, we need to have some means of getting that information. Unfortunately, the hardware that provides the position information is not normally available to the web browser that the Geocortex viewer runs in - we use the location API to ask the browser where you are and that then determines which location service or device to poll to get the location.
In Collector, you explicitly define the device(s) you want to use, which is possible as it's a native application.
We're investigating how to allow you get precision GPS information in our next-generation mobile viewer product, as it has been requested by several users with similar requirements as your own. Contact your account manager if you have specific needs or questions about our upcoming products!
