Share app data between Essentials and WF5 workflows?

Hi,

 

Is this possible?

 

I have tried used a WF5 'Set Application Data' activity and then tried to read the data (same key value) with an Essentials 'getExternalValue' activity, but this didn't work for me...

 

How can I share data between the different workflow types within a site?

 

(Use case: resorting to using a mix of workflows to access the Essential's SqlQuery activity because this is not available in WF5)

  Update: I managed to get the functionality I needed using search tables and web requests... however I would still like to know if app data can be shared between wf4 and wf5 somehow and how to do this.... Thanks!

  I've included the WF4 that is executed in order to see the interplay between the two products.
