Limit map extent

That help doc says that it "does not limit the parts of the map that end users can access—users can pan the map beyond the full extent that you configure, search and query operations can return results from outside the full extent, and so on." I'm curious if you can limit the map to a specfic extent as well.

Not pretty, but you could add a mask layer on top, and make it so it can't be turned off.  Probably wouldn't help with someone doing a blind Identify outside the area...

A layer that covers the world, but has the area you would like people to be able to see cut out.  This layer sits on top of the rest of your layers Ann's is opaque so users can not see underneath. You could make this layer white, or maybe fill it with dragons...

    Jared,

Found this on the GeoCortex site years ago...

    Try this workflow: (https://drive.google.com/open?id=10V1vDwWaO9JXoeCQv3SMjjBlENSa3spp)

    Cheers...Rick

I left this note out...  When adding the workflow to GE, be sure to check the box "Run On Startup".  This will allow the "MapExtentChangedEvent" to do it's thing.

Thanks for this Rick, its going part way to solving a task for me.

The only issue I have is that after zooming in to an area within the extent and then I hit the Initial Extent Button it does return to the Initial extent but then zooms down a level and pans slightly.

Any idea as to why this would happen?

    Cheers, Chris

    Hi Chris,

What version of viewer are you using?  This may be a previously filed bug.

    Hi Chris,

The issue I was looking at was fixed in 2.9.  I don't see anything that has been filed with your symptoms.  I would recommend submitting a support ticket so a support analyst can look into it with you.

    Regards,

The post from @Richard Diaz? works brilliantly. Exactly what I needed. Does anyone know if there is a similar sample to this using Workflow 5?
