Security Workflow
Has anyone limited the devices that can see a Site by using the Security Workflow to only allow certain MAC addressess? What is the workflow function that returns the MAC address of the device?

Scott - You would probably need to do this on your firewall not on the site. In the browser, this would be considered a security vulnerability to do in the browser and is generally not recommended as MAC addresses are easily spoofed. The only workarounds were old ActiveX or Java hacks. Would not be supported to do.
What are you trying to do that normal authentication methods don't support?0 -
I'm trying to find a way to allow only my users (60 of them) to access the Geocortex viewer without forcing them to login each time. It's a convenience thing, not a security thing....but I'm trying to increase security at the same time and stop having everyone gain access as "guest". Some way to recognize by device "yes you are allowed". This is not an NSA hub so I don't need a lot of security but would like to improve upon "guest" while not making utility workers in the field have to login on their phone or iPad if possible. 0 -
BTW, I'm hosted on Azure and it is a software firewall - Network Security Group - which only filters on IP. Our IP's change and are not static for our devices as they connect/drop from the cellular network. 0 -

As Tom mentioned, MAC-based security is not ideal as they are easily spoofed. Some sort of authentication is likely the way to go here.0
