How to configure Sign-In options to use PORTAL with SSL

The SSL Portal URL gives "Invalid Portal URL" in the Post Installation Configuration for Sign-In options, but the plain HTTP is fine...

 

Does any one know why?  I can log into Portal fine with HTTPS..

 

for example:

 

http://gis.abc.com/portal (works with Post Instal Sign In)

 

https://gis.abc.com/portal (does not work) "The underlying connection is closed"

 

Although I have no trouble logging into https://gis.abc.com/portal/

  Hi Gordon,

   

  Sounds like a TLS 1.2 issue, the fix detailed here, applied to the Essentials server may help -

  Thanks!  That totally did it.  

   

  I had to update my service packs and tweak the registry as it is described in the Fix.

   

  Works great now!
