Exported As Excel Geometry Field
Afternoon,
When clients export elements from a feature class into an Excel file, with the intention of adding addidtional fields to the Excel and reimporting it back in again, they are faced with problem of splitting apart the geometry field in the exported file. In order to achieve this, they need to utilize the Excel mid function and create two new columns with the x and y coordinates separated.
Why is the geometry field exported in the fashion? Why not have the export to excel automatically separate the x,y values into two separate columns?

Hi Walter,
I believe that the geometry field is considered a single column when exporting the data, so it ends up being formatted as a coordinate pair rather than new X and Y columns.
This does make sense to do, though, so please post to our Ideas section for Essentials so we can consider this for part of the product!
If you need it sooner then a custom workflow might be able to help split the points into X and Y coordinates.
