Windows Sign-In with ArcGIS Online Access

Has anyone had success accessing ArcGIS Online content while using Essentials Windows Sign-in?  I have sites that uses AD login authentication.  I'd like to give users the ability to load layers from our organizations ArcGIS Online portal.  Is this mixed environment possible?  Can this be done through a workflow?

  Don't think so, its esri sign-on or AD.... I assume we will all be forced to the esri accounts down the road.  I hope not.

  When last I looked at this ESRI didn't provide support for AD groups.  Looks like it might be supported now with "Enable SAML based group membership"
