How do you query a Map Service in Web Appbuilder (WAB)?

I've been unable to use the Query Layer activity on my map services set up in a WAB application, but have feature services working. I've tried using both map services hosted in AGOL and I've tried with services pulled in directly from an ArcGIS Server.

 

I started with the Secured Query Workflow but I can't find any token in WAB for services from outside AGOL; when appending the token to service layers from AGOL I would get a "cannot browse directory" server error instead of results.

 

I tried using layer objects derived from WAB but the only result I've been able to return is for the layer-level object, like a service definition. I haven't been able to get a good response for a morning layer.

 

Has anyone gotten queries to work from map services hosted in AGOL?

  I had the same issue and it turned out that I had not set the spatial reference to 4326 on my query layer as I was using a projected map service.

  I know it isn't the projection since I'm not able to get any results returnd at all. My issue appears to be with figuring out the input parameters to the Query activity.

   

  When using the layer or sublayer objects from the Get Layer activity, I get at best the service definition (with the layer) and I get nothing from the sublayer. When trying to cobble together the endpoint url from the Get Map activity, I'm only able to get a server error.
