Disabling the Layer Theme Selector - Is it possible

Is it possible to disable the Layer Theme Selector?

 

 

I have had a look in the LayerList Module but cannot see any way to achieve this outcome.

 

 

I want to replace this default selector with Toolbar Icons so the user can click on a button to access other layer themes and other integrations with external applications.  There needs to be only one location to select these from.

 

 

This is a functional requirement from the project I am working on.
