Upload Data (KML) - SSL/TLS error

If I browse my site over http, and upload a KML file, then during the "generate" request/step of the upload, i.e. on:

~/Geocortex/Essentials/REST/sites/{mysite}/generate

I get an error:

The same KML file I can upload to :

So I'm pretty sure I have an SSL/TLS issue, but are unsure where.

At the same time, if I browse my site over HTTPS (with valid cert) and upload a KML (or shp) file, I get an 404 error:

https://{my site]/Html5Viewer/null

Any advice, or pointers would be much appreciated.
