Center-align text in Text control

Prior to upgrading to 5.17, while running 5.15, I could put HTML tags, in addition to Markdown, into the Text control's text area, and it would honor it in the panel. At 5.17 HTML tags do not seem to be honored. So, my question is, how do I center-align text in the Text control? This is what I had in 5.15 that worked and now just appears as text including the tags. There doesn't appear to be a center-align within Markdown.

We recently made a couple of changes.
1. We standardized our markdown library ... we needed something that was specified in Markdown to look more or less the same from design-time preview to runtime across browsers, OS, and native mobile devices.
2. The original library we used in Web allows HTML syntax, but it was never intentional.
To the best of my knowledge there is no way to center text using markdown.
