Product Idea: Ethernet Ring/STM Ring/MPLS Network Y-Works diagrams
BesvaratCircuit Detail > Routing View Tab, has Y-Works visibility toolbar icon. Curious why there would not be a Y-Works option for an Ethernet Carrier Ring (Network Usage > Ethernet Rings > [Ring Detail]... only Detail/Attribute/Transport Cont/Ports tabs). We will eventually have to seek a way to output this sort of drawing for our users in Visio I suppose (presently having to manually draw in Visio, and store separately).
Same for STM Ring. No Routing View Tab, or Y-Works option appear present.
The MPLS Networks have a Detail > Routing View tab with Y-Works option. But, I assume ALL layers within this network must be Logically AND Physically Routed before Y-Works will provide any output. With some circuits not fully physically routed in our very Large MPLS Network (2,000 routing objects presently in the Network), Y-Works is not displaying anything for us. As result we are required to maintain a very cumbersome manually drawn Visio print per regional network, which is becoming untenable as our Network grows and Changes regularly. We also require a dynamic and wholistic view of the planned and present Network for Circuit Routing and Design decisions.

(Note: there have been improvements to Y-works recently… and for other users benefit… Y-works seems to struggle not because of programming, but possibly because of misunderstood component/transport container data modeling schemes. You seem to really have to define the end-result use case for your organization during component/transport container library modeling… lesson learned hard way… some "short-cuts" in modeling simply to save administrative time, can result in lack of desired graphical output in Y-works it seems. So, “self-inflicted wounds” :) )
