Now Available: VertiGIS Studio Mobile 5.40

This release of VertiGIS Studio Mobile is a major productivity update, focused on empowering field users with better control over their offline data and delivering performance improvements across the application. This version introduces new capabilities for managing local Map Areas and MMPKs directly within Studio Go’s Local Data Manager, modernizes our JSON processing engine for faster responsiveness, and implements robust new networking checks for iOS devices.

✨ New Features

Enhanced Local Data Management: We have expanded the capabilities of the Local Data Manager to give users more autonomy over their device storage.

• Manage Map Areas: Users can now list and delete downloaded Map Areas directly within VertiGIS Studio Go, making it easier to free up space and manage field projects. [336488]
• Manage Map Definitions: Added support for listing and deleting locally stored Map Area definitions to further improve offline data management. [338918]
• Update Offline Mobile Map Packages: The Local Data Manager now supports updating existing Mobile Map Packages (MMPK), ensuring field crews always have access to the latest reference data without requiring full downloads at app initiation. [347300]

🚀 Technology & Performance Upgrades

This release includes updates to our core technology stack to improve speed, memory usage, and connectivity reliability:

• JSON Engine Modernization: We have replaced Newtonsoft.Json with System.Text.Json across multiple subsystems, including the Object Converter, Workflow Form Elements, and ArcGISExtensions. This results in faster serialization, reduced memory footprint, and improved overall application responsiveness. [342887, 355315, 353716, 353715]
• Layer List Optimization: The Layer List component now utilizes lazy loading and improved memory handling, delivering faster interaction speeds, particularly when working with large or complex web maps. [353039]
• Robust iOS Connectivity Checks: Network status detection on iOS has been completely overhauled to use NWPathMonitor combined with pre-flight request verification. This ensures highly reliable detection of online/offline transitions, especially when using VPNs. [362772]
• Workflow Security Enhancements: The Get Portal User activity now supports returning a token, enabling workflows to securely pass authentication through to subsequent service calls. [327161]

Bug Fixes

This release includes a wide range of fixes that enhance stability and usability, with a specific focus on Offline robustness and Workflow Form interactions.

Offline & Connectivity: Significant improvements were made to the Disconnected Mode experience. We resolved critical issues where authentication prompts would block app access during network blackouts [362760, 355108] and fixed a bug where offline sync would fail with "Geodatabase change tracking not enabled" errors [201906]. Performance when loading offline Map Areas has been optimized [341411], and slow application initialization when launching without an internet connection has been resolved [362352]. Additionally, custom Windows builds no longer encounter errors during Map Area downloads [361403].

Workflow & Forms: We have addressed several interactivity issues within Workflow forms. Geometry Pickers using change events now display drawn points immediately [342867]. We fixed visual synchronization issues with Toggle inputs [328126, 346213] and resolved a crash on Android related to Radio Button Groups with large item counts [326465]. Furthermore, data handling for tables with float fields has been corrected [339346], and Item Pickers now share rows correctly with other form controls [356116].

UI & General Stability: Several layout and stability improvements have been implemented. Square buttons now render correctly on Android [315512], and the Delete button position has been fixed for Android Phone 15+ devices [326728]. We also corrected localization truncation in the German interface [321748] and resolved a crash when switching from Sample Apps back to Portal sign-in on UWP [352905]. Finally, Layer Presets sourced from MMAP files now correctly display sublayers within Group Extensions [358075].
