A big thank you to everyone in the community for your valuable feedback and ideas that helped shape this release. Let's dive into the highlights!
✨ Highlights in Studio Web 5.38 ✨
⚡ Dynamic Layer Interaction Events
Unleash a new level of interactivity in your applications! We've added a comprehensive suite of new event listeners that respond to how users engage with the Layer List and map data:
- Clicks on Layers: Trigger actions when User clicks on a layer name.
- Mouse Hover over Layers: Trigger actions when hovering over layers. What about expanding a layer group?
- Layer Added: Automatically react when new layers are introduced to the map.
- Definition Expression Changes: Create dynamic responses when a layer's filter is modified.
These events empower you to build incredibly responsive apps that react precisely to user behavior.
🔍 Smarter Search & Query Experience
Finding what you need just got a whole lot easier! The Query Builder now supports case-insensitive queries and auto-suggestions, making search more forgiving and efficient. Plus, we've added additional search options that are configurable at runtime, giving the user more control to tailor their search experience on the fly.
📏 Standardized Printing with Fixed Scales
For precise output, it is now possible to configure fixed print scales. This ensures that all printed maps consistently adhere to specified scale requirements, streamlining workflows for reports, documentation, and official plots.

Hi Christian Wohlmutter,
Thanks for sharing.
Do you know if the implementation of the “Layer Clicked Event” will make it possible to support the following use case:
Automatically activate parent layer group(s) when a layer that belongs to one or more groups is activated.
Right now, it takes quite a few clicks to activate a layer if it’s part of one or more disabled layer groups — and in some cases, it might be desirable to bypass this behavior.
Thanks!

Hi Martin,
that use case is unfortunately not supported by the “Layer Clicked Event”. I understand that pain point, but it must be implemented on its own. You can follow that user story's state in the changelog under the ID 260650.

Thanks for adding in the defined print scales! It would be nice if we could add custom labels in the future, as my end users don't understand 2400 on its own. I would want to put 1" = 200 ft (1:2,400).

Hi Christian Wohlmutter,
I am very interested in that User story. How do I follow the user story's state in the changelog?
I have not tried this before and don't know where to go to access this changelog. Thanks
Pete
