Feature Request – Saving User Preferences in GeoWeb
Hi VertiGIS Support,
Following a discussion with Esri Support, I would like to kindly request that the following functionality be considered for inclusion in a future GeoWeb release.
The idea is to allow GeoWeb users to save their personal preferences within their own profiles, similar to how a favorite area can be stored in user data (see link below).
This could include the ability to retain:
- A customized layer order
- Added layers from external sources
- Settings such as transparency and layer style
- Drawn points, lines, and polygons
- And potentially other user-specific configurations

Saving projects is not an ideal solution:
Currently, saving a project (as a JSON file) is the only way to start GeoWeb each day with the desired map layers and settings. This allows users to reload their preferred configuration on a daily basis.
However, problems arise when an administrator makes changes (for example), to map views. These updates are not automatically reflected in the previously saved JSON files. As a result, users may continue working with an outdated configuration.
Extra information:
- VertiGIS Studio: VertiGIS Studio Web versie 5.34.2
- Operating System: Windows 11 Enterprise (version 23H2)
- Web Browsers: Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge
Kind regards
-
GeoWeb is the product name of VertiGIS Studio in the Netherlands.
Can the Projects functionality (local or shared) fulfill your use case?

Hi Nico,
Thank you very much for your input and for sharing the information.
Following your response, I’ve updated my description to provide a clearer picture.Kind regards,

Yes! We have users that want to set their own layer presets - - they don't need/want to save a project (which saves the state of the application). They just want to be able to save their layer visibility preferences.
