Return to default tab when closing results

I'd like to capture the X/close behavior in a results tab and activate a default tab. 

Also, when the user clicks on the back arrow, it returns to a query window even though they weren't using the query tool, but the Search box. I think this is confusing.

Cam Barnard any thoughts on capturing close events for search results?
