Now Available: VertiGIS Studio Workflow 5.44
Renamed activities:
- To help reduce confusion with other terms, the following activities have been renamed:
- The Subworkflow activity is now called Function.
- The Run Subworkflow activity is now called Execute Function.
This release includes some enhancements to existing activities and form elements:
- The Add Form Element activity now has additional inputs to improve positioning of new elements. You can now specify relative positions, such as "above textBox1".
- The Get Portal User activity has a new "token" output which is the token generated by the token service for the user.
- The Text Replace activity has a new "Ignore Case" input to allow a case-insensitive search.
- The Geometry Picker form element now has the option of capturing a circle.
The designer also has some helpful changes:
- Improved validation of the type of the result of an expression when an activity is involved that has a customizable type, such as the Cast activity.
- Validation errors/warning icons are now shown on an activity when it has any descendants that are invalid. (e.g. a Container activity that contains an activity with a missing required input.)
- Hyperlinks in markdown descriptions are now clickable.
- Double-clicking on a Run Workflow activity now opens the target workflow in a new tab.
The sandbox has been enhanced also:
- It will warn you if the version of VertiGIS Studio Web being used is using an older version of Workflow than the Designer.
- When on-premises, it will allow you to load VertiGIS Studio Web from a custom location, if its URL is something other than /vertigisstudio/web/ on the same machine as Workflow.

It would have been helpful if the default behavior for the “Add Form Element” were to add the form element below the previous one, similar to how it worked in the previous version.
My workflow uses a for loop to dynamically generate panel-accordions and text below each accordion. Click on the map to see for yourself: Wisconsin DNR. Following the upgrade, all the text elements were placed in the first accordion. For the fix, I needed to keep track of the last accordion added so the next accordion would be placed under it.
