New Vertigis Studio Print Engine - other install options?

Currently, we don't have an external facing “ArcGIS Enterprise” environment (i.e., Portal + AGS + Datastore).  Instead, we have a server with just AGS, and a web server with ArcGIS Web Adapter. 

Is it possible to install the new Vertigis Studio Print engine on the web server, then configure the GP tool in AGS?

For what it's worth, we have successfully installed the new Print engine in our internal Portal environment, as those servers have all the needed components (i.e., Portal + AGS + Datastore).
