This is new to me! As an aside, we frequently use VSS in our SaaS demo environment. Have you submitted a support ticket to our VertiGIS Studio Support team around this?

Thanks for the feedback, @.... I have since February had 4 separate support cases. I have one open now. I just set up a new clean app and ran into the same issue when adding the 4th layer to VSS. These are not large datasets.

Glad to help, Heather Widlund. I just did a quick search in our internal tracking system and found a few things:

    • Your name comes up in 12 separate items, so thanks for being such a persistent member of our community!
    • The specific issue you described has been captured under bug item 259474. Our QA team has reproduced and confirmed this issue. You are one of four stakeholders on that item, so you are not the only one seeing this.
      • The Product team intend to resolve this item, and others around data schema, under the item 239829. This would likely be included as part of a forthcoming VSS 1.8 release targeted for October.

Thanks, @.... This is a little bit of a different issue, but I hope it is captured in that item. That bug involved closing before saving after switching back to Esri standard search. In this case, I am compulsively saving but the indices are still going missing. Alisa Lindley is working with me on it. In this post, I'm mainly interested in whether anyone is experiencing it in on-prem.

I have experienced similar issue. In fact, this morning, some of my VSS showed index status ‘missing’. I tried to re-index the search, I tried to re-build the search from scratch, and I cannot get the search to work. I also noticed, that the search says that there are 0 (zero) records in my layer. I double checked my layer and all the data is in there. I was also talking to my colleague and he has the same issue.  As I was typing this, I went and refresh my VSW site again, and the search is all of the sudden started working. I refreshed it multiple times before, cleared cache, tried different browser, incognito, etc.  It's been about 45 min since I re-index search last time, and when it started working. So now I wonder if there is some soft of delay before, the search settings get fully propagated? Our deployment is on-prem.  @... do you have any ideas.

I am the colleague with the same VSS issues.  I too have rebuilt my searches from scratch, refreshed the site, and I cannot get my search to work.   Unlike Nataliya, my searches have not started working after clearing browser cache, incognito windows, or using different browsers.

Nataliya Lys and Steve Cacioppo, if your organization is running into this issue with on-premises VertiGIS Studio Search, it would help us out a great deal if you could open a support ticket so we can thoroughly troubleshoot the problem and assess whether the issue might need to be escalated to our development team.

I also recently published an article that may be relevant if you are setting up VertiGIS Studio Search on secured resources: https://support.vertigis.com/hc/en-us/articles/21263873125522-How-to-avoid-missing-search-indices-due-to-expired-tokens-on-secured-resources-that-have-been-configured-via-Web-Designer
