Hi Peter,   As you have identified, the metadata link functionality you are referencing is acheived via a custom extension.  In this case, the custom extension is used to search in a location on the server for the metadata file for the layer in question.   The custom extension could be modified to retrieve metadata from a location on the Internet.  This would require modifying the code behind the custom extension, or creating a new custom extension to perform the functionality you are looking for.   Take a look at the Tutorials tab of the REST API Resource Center located here:

http://resources.geocortex.com/essentials/apis/rest/   You'll find a section which describes, in step-by-step terms, how to build the custom extension which was used to achieve the metadata link functionality.  If you follow these steps you can learn how custom extensions are developed and modify your own custom extension to suit your needs.   I hope this helps!   Drew.

    Hi Brad,

The old Resource Center is still accessible while we're developing its replacement. To log in to the Resource Center, you'll need your old Support Center username and password; your username is bfisher. If you need help with the password, shoot me an email at (community@geocortex.com) and I'll get you set up again.
