Question about metadata hyperlink from TOC
I know from looking at the CharlotteArcGISOnline sample site, that you can create metadata links for each layer through a custom extension that loads a static local metadata file, but I'm wondering if there is any way to have each layer linked to an internet URL that would load the metadata information.
We have an online metadata system and I would rather link directly to the source than have to make a copy of every metadata record and store it locally on the Essentials server.
Any assistance / ideas on how to accomplish this would be greatly appreciated.
Peter.

Hi Peter, As you have identified, the metadata link functionality you are referencing is acheived via a custom extension. In this case, the custom extension is used to search in a location on the server for the metadata file for the layer in question. The custom extension could be modified to retrieve metadata from a location on the Internet. This would require modifying the code behind the custom extension, or creating a new custom extension to perform the functionality you are looking for. Take a look at the Tutorials tab of the REST API Resource Center located here:
http://resources.geocortex.com/essentials/apis/rest/ You'll find a section which describes, in step-by-step terms, how to build the custom extension which was used to achieve the metadata link functionality. If you follow these steps you can learn how custom extensions are developed and modify your own custom extension to suit your needs. I hope this helps! Drew.0 -
Hi Drew,
Is https://resources.geocortex.com still accessible?

Hi Brad,
The old Resource Center is still accessible while we're developing its replacement. To log in to the Resource Center, you'll need your old Support Center username and password; your username is bfisher. If you need help with the password, shoot me an email at (community@geocortex.com) and I'll get you set up again.
