Print template scalebars

Hi

Is there a way to produce scalebars in print templates that always have sensible numbers e.g. 0,0.5,1 or 0,5,10 etc.  It seems to be nothing short of a work of art to build a scalebar (compared to a drag and drop and simple resize in ArcGIS).  I am using pre-determined scales for printing, but you still get some odd numbers.  Just like there is a way to dynamically resize the legend depending on the content/size of the key, can something be done for the scalebar?

  Chris,

  You can set the output format property of the Scale Bar Distance control to round to the nearest integer, tenth of a point, etc. I'd be surprised if there isn't some way to set the size of the Scale Bar as a percent of the Map Scale by adding some code to the script tab, but unfortunately I don't have a code sample for that to offer.
