Mailing Labels with Optional "In Care of"

I'm trying to use the Active report expressions presented in the Code Gallery under Reports, where the first expression used compares whether the ICO value is indeed blank.

But when I substitue my line, I get an error in the report preview tab.

((VTSTREETNO + " ").ToString().Trim() != "" ? VTMAILING4 : VTMAILING1)

In the case above, my VTSTREETNO value is not blank, therefore, it should insert the VTMAILING4 value into the report, but it DOES NOT?

Can anyone see what the problem is?

  If you search the Active Report help file, in my version I'm running Report Designer v2.19.1.7,  it DOES NOT return any results for the search criteria of:

  a) expressions

  b) calculated fields
