It would be extremely helpful in searching for activity IDs in larger workflows.

Something like what is in WF4 would be great (a searchable navigation tree).

Agreed. And more broadly, the ability to search for a keyoword or phrase within all of the activities in the workflow.

being able to search based on activity id, search for variables by name would be amazing.

We will include this with some other search enhancements being planned for the Geocortex Workflow designer.

This feature will be included in Workflow 5.15 which is scheduled for general availability on April 20th.

The comments have included lots of great ideas, but not all of them will be implemented in this particular version. Here is a summary of what will be included:
    1. Find all activities of a specific type. (The specific functionality that was requested.)
    2. Find everywhere that a particular activity is used. For example, find all inputs with an expression containing $form1.
    3. Search results will be presented in a tree hierarchy at the bottom of the page, similar to the Workflow 4 tree. (Not searchable directly at this time.)
    4. The tree can also be used to navigate the entire workflow when no search is applied.
We have plans to build on this in subsequent releases for things like a free-text search box and finding the declaration of a given id. (e.g. "take me to $form1)

At the time, it was only mentioned in the release notes. Now there is an article entitled Navigate a Workflow and Search for Activities.
