Large Report Size for PDF
Does anyone know why a three page PDF report would be generating as 43,685 KB in size?
My report is a layer report that includes an image (from the attachment table), some more text from the layer, and a feature map.
A very similar report generated in the old reporting (version 4.3) is only 179 KB in size.
Has anyone else seen similar results?

Hi Ali,
I looked into this today, and was able to reproduce the issue.
- using the Image property to upload a local image, the report pdf is an expected size
- using the Image URL property to reference the same image from the web, the report pdf is several times larger
I don't have an explanation yet for the difference, but I've filed this as BUG #31053 for investigation.

Thanks Amanda for looking into this. Hopefully this can be looked at for the next release since this has a big impact for our users.

Amanda, I'm running into the same problem, but have no images in my report. All of my reports are about 10-15X larger than the equivalent reports generated with workflow 4. If I open it in Adobe and resave it (which optimizes it for web viewing), it reduces the size to about 2X a workflow 4 pdf is. I've noticed that Reporting 5 is noticeably slower generating reports that workflow 4 - maybe the issue is the time it takes writing out the larger PDF file rather than anything with the reporting engine...
I'm running into problems with large reports failing. In my case I'm sending a collection of 13,000 ids to a SQL Server data source that should return about 45,000 records in the report. I know that the 13,000 ids isn't a problem as I can run other reports on the same collection that return a single record for each id that work fine (note, I understand this doesn't currently work against an ArcGIS Server map service data source, due to a known bug you are working on, but it works when hitting a SQL Server data source).
The largest report I've successfully created is ~67MB - anything larger seems to fail.
Is this problem with PDF file size something you are still working on?
Thanks,
Chris
