Adding non-Portal WebScene to GWV

We have a WebScene that is not hosted in Portal because of the 2000 feature hard-limit imposed by Esri and created with the ArcGIS API for JavaScript. When we try to add it to GVH, We get the error "Invalid Portal Item Reference". The tooltip states:

 

The portal item ID or complete URL for the web scene

To confirm, does GWV support non-Portal hosted MapViews and WebScenes or are we limited only to Portal hosted items?

  Hi Tom,

   

  GVH is based on the 3.X ArcGIS JSAPI which does not currently include support for web scenes, but GXW is based on the 4.X ArcGIS JSAPI and does support Map Views and Web Scenes hosted in both AGOL and Portal.

  To confirm, Gecortex Web Viewer ONLY supports MapViews and WebScenes hosted in Portal.

  This seems terrible. I don't understand. Do I have to register every Token-based server-secured services with Portal to then pull into GWV?

  Hi Tom,

   

  You mentioned two separate products above in your initial question, which is why I thought I should clarify that only the Geocortex Web supports web scenes. Web can load scenes hosted in both AGOL and Portal, though there may be an issue when Web tries to load your web scene. Are you able to provide access to this web scene so that we are able to reproduce this issue on our end?
