data links in report

What is the proper syntax to display data in a report from a data link. The link relationship is one-to-one and I can get it show in my map tips so I know it is working correctly. I have tried [data link name].[field name] and just [field name]. Question is for Report Designer 4.x

  From Amanda (support): Needs to be in a sub-report with the report name = to the ID of the data link
