How does one access a map's scale in a print template, like the _MapScale parameter in Essentials?

I am trying to figure out how to get the scale into the layout e.g. "1:1000"

  Hi Zack,

   

  You can achieve this by using the "MapInfo" control. (It looks like a picture of a Map with a letter "i" in a circle in front of it.) Position it where you would like the text to appear in the template and then set the "Type" property to "Scale".
