Dealing with Internet Explorer
I understand that the 5 series isn't designed to run in IE. Unfortunately there are still a lot of users and organizations that IE is the default browser.
I've noticed that when you open a link to a 5 series web viewer in IE it's just a blank screen no message to the user stating incompatible browser issues. To the average user they wouldn't be able to figure out why this is happening.
Is there a way to supply the users with an appropriate message when they try to load in an incompatible browser? I know that I could use JS to capture the users viewer and display an alert message before loading the viewer, but that doesn't really seem like an appropriate strategy. Rather something similar to what happens when you try to load a designer in IE would be best that on failed load display a simple HTML message.

Hi Shawn,
For any users trying to connect to the 5-series SaaS and on-prem environments in IE11 or other unsupported browsers, we do display a warning.

Are they using versions older than IE 11?
Thanks, Stefan

Hi Stefan, thanks for the reply.
IE version 11.7XX is the browser being used by the client who reported the issue. I was also able to reproduce it with 11.6XX. The web map works fine in chrome/Fire fox as expected.
WV5: on prem 5.5.0
Portal: 10.7
Here is a link to an example map with the issue, this is just the capital city demo app with its base config and nothing changed. I am able to reproduce it with a number of other 5 series maps I have as well. I've included a screen shot below showing the console errors and nothing loading saying the map is not compatible with the browser.

Hi Shawn,
Ahh my mistake, I should have specified that the existing warning only displays in the Designers. We've added this warning for loading IE 11 and Legacy Edge within the Web viewer for the next release (5.6), planning to be released in around a month's time.
Thanks, Stefan
