Automate import and export of reporting and printing

From the Report Designer, it is possible to export and import reports, but when doing this many times, it becomes tedious.

So I am wondering if it is possible to automate this process? Is there perhaps a REST interface to the Report Designer? Or, if I am running on-premise, can I copy the Report files myself?

We already automated exporting and importing of workflows, which are stored in Portal or AGOL, which makes this quite easy to do. It was disappointing to find out that Reports (and Prints) are stored in a different way.
