This along with several other Esri 3D tools was released as a ready to use library you can add to any VSW app. https://vertigis-web-incubator.netlify.app/3d-tools

It would be great to have the option to carry out vertical measurements when using GXW in 3D. From what I can see, using GXW in both 2D and 3D just gives the option to measure area or length.

 

Having this ability to measure building heights etc. is something that would be good to see.

  Yes. Adding vertical measurements in 3D is definitely planned.

  This is a very important requirement for the AEC industry. We have many BIM models that we wish to display in the 3D viewer but if users can't measure vertically then there is no point display the building scene layers in a GXW web application. The measure tools need to behave like the measure tools in Esri's Scene Viewer. A slice tool and profile graph widget are also needed in order to do proper 3D measurement and analysis.
