Are there plans to improve the legend printing capabilities any time soon?
Hello. I'm playing around with Printing 5 to see if it's ready for prime time for us. Specifically, I'd had issues in earlier versions with the legend that I was hoping would be fixed up in 5.4. But unfortunately it still doesn't work the way I'd hoped.
Like many users, we run into problems with the legend being too long to fit into legend item in the template. Smart filtering is a HUGE improvement to that (yay!). But I'm a little surprised at how Printing 5 formats the legend.

The legend on the left is using Essentials 4 printing. The image on the right is 5-series. The most obvious thing is, even with smart filtering, the 5-series legend displays much less information, so my legend length problem is much worse in 5.
For us, this is a show stopper, and we can't use Printing 5 until legend formatting issues are addressed. If any Geocortex people are reading this, do you have any plans to overhaul the legend capabilities? Any timeline? Surely no-one can be happy with the current capabilities.
Here are some suggestions I have for improving it:
- Option to remove map service/layer names from legend. For most situations, this is only adds to the clutter. In my example, "Transportation", "Utilities - Water" etc
- Allow for a single symbol to be on same line as the description (like it was with Essentials 4 printing). In my example, "Unimproved ROW"
- Allow for cached services to be excluded from legend. In my example, "Street Names" and "Main"
- Remove even more padding by default (user can always add it back in using the legend properties).
Thanks,
Chris

Just bumping this. It looks like the legending issues are the same in Printing 5.10.0. Are there any plans to improve the legend layout? For us it's a showstopper, so we're having to stick with the old print engine. Thanks for any response.
