Is it possible to load a feature from a shapefile, using Upload Data, but then use that feature as the basis for a selection? Thank you.

As far as I can see, there's no way to parse a shapefile at this moment (unless this was added in the most recent version).
Your best bet would be to use a geoprocessing service that accepts a shapefile, and returns the data as JSON.

Alternatively you might be able to write this as an Essentials workflow, which you could then call from Geocortex Workflow using the 'Run Essentials Workflow' activity.
