    Great question!

Geocortex Web does include the ability to store user preferences behind the scenes.

To date, we haven't considered making the current map extent part of that, but it is an interesting idea.

At some point soon you will see the introduction of what GVH referred to as Save/Load project.

This enabled you to save the complete state of your application so that you could pick up where you left off.

In GVH this included things like current map extent, what layers were turned off/on, any data that you had uploaded to the map, measurement and redline markup, etc.

    Thanks for answering.

Great to hear that projects will be coming to GCW.

However, by preserving the current state of map extent and layer visibility from session to session using browser cookies behind the scenes, I think a lot of users would experience an enhanced quality of the apps. Having to save a project “manually” these days seems a bit old fashioned, especially if the only needs are extent and layer visibility. I support the project functionality  when the work done by a user is more extensive, such as drawings, custom uploads etc.

Coming back to this post, are there any plans to make the current map extent part of the user preferences?

A lot of applications (many of the ArcGIS apps) have the functionality that you zoom to the previous extent after you reopened/refreshed the app.

    Thanks in advance!
