We use a time aware WMS to display historical base mapping between 1839 and 1978 within our area of interest. Availability of historic mapping varies across our area of interest so for some areas the mapping may have changed in 1894, 1903, others also in 1955 and 1964 or only in those years. The image attached gives some idea of the complexity of the updates (and this is only a small part of our area of interest).

I’m aware that the swipe tool would allow us to show base mapping at different times but not for tens of different dates within a single app. Currently there's no way obvious in which we can display this historical mapping service usefully with a time slider in Geocortex Web.

It's an extremely valuable option used extensively by our archaeology and land use teams for historical research and future planning. Is a richer time slider on the current Geocortex Web roadmap? If not, can it be added?

  Using this for time-enabled vector data would be invaluable. This would also be very useful for rasters or aerials of different years.
