What is the recommended CPU setup for on-premises Printing Server to support large-format printing?
My on-premises Printing Server has 16GB RAM, 4 virtual processors, 2.69 GHz base speed. One ANSI E size printing job will use up to 75% CPU and take over 8 min to complete; two concurrent ANSI E size printing jobs will use up to 100% CPU, each job will take about 10 min to finish. When I have 6 concurrent printing jobs running (2 ANSI C, 2 ANSI D, and 2 ANSI E), CPU usage will be 100% for about 10 min until most of the jobs have completed, and in this situation, even an ANSI C printing job can take 9 min to complete.
Is this the expected behavior? Can adding more cores or increasing CPU speed improve the performance?
I once created a support case for recommended CPU setup, and was told that Geocortex support might update the documentation of recommended system requirements for Geocortex Reporting. I would appreciate if anyone can suggest a CPU setup which would work in a production environment.

Hi Michelle,
We've done testing in this area with previous releases using an 8 CPU, 32 GB RAM virtual machine and there is further improvement to run times, especially with multiple concurrent large format prints. This is expected behaviour given the amount of data required to generate the prints. More hardware resources does improve runtimes.
There is also an undocumented configuration option available to increase the number of worker threads available to running print jobs, which also increases the priority of print jobs. This option will improve runtime but has the potential to overwhelm the server if not enough resources are available. You can also configure a load balancer to help cut down run times; both these options would require contacting Support to setup.
Thanks, Stefan

Hi Stefan, Thank you for the information. The 16 GB RAM seems okay based on my testing. I will try adding more virtual processors to see how much it can improve the runtimes. Regards, Michelle 0
